Did anyone ever see what became of the hoaxers from a few months ago? I know the one guy who was a police officer ended up losing his job. They sure did a great job of destroying the credibility to the field that others have been striving to build up for years.

What a shame! Finally, some people are starting to try to do real scientific investigations into this field, and some idiots have to go and try to pull a hoax. They couldn't have believed they would succeed. So all they did was cause us to take a big step backwards in the research and credibility.

The field itself is fragile to begin with. Even the lightest skeptics in the world dismiss Bigfoot claims without batting an eye. I've debated the probability of the existence of a North American primate up and down a thousand times.... no matter what points you make, hardly a soul takes it seriously. I do not know what goes through a hoaxers mind, if they're looking for 15 minutes of fame or what... I can't imagine how stupid a person must be to create a dummy and offer it to researchers for study. Whenever people do silly things like this the entire paranormal field as a whole takes a huge hit. Do a poll... probably about 70% of the population believes in ghosts... only about 25% believes in the existence of Bigfoot. The debate will go on and on and only a handful of people will believe until someone produces an actual Bigfoot and not a costume draped in opposum guts.
